We are a Child-Centered
We empower children to know their rights, be active participants in their community, and use their voice and talents for change.
We work together with communities to build a better and brighter future. With support from our donors and partners, we are improving the safety, security and health of children, and creating a world where they can see beyond poverty and take the lead in their own change. We also invest in emergency preparedness and risk management to ensure the resiliency of a community in the event of a disaster. In times of emergency, we respond quickly to protect and support children when they are most vulnerable.
What we do works.
We respect and value our supporters and CCFC-supported communities. That's why we measure and evaluate everything we do. We set clear goals in partnership with each community, and develop a step-by-step plan to achieve them. Evaluations are conducted to make sure the community is - and stays - on track. Donors and communities can feel confident that their contribution is creating lasting and positive change.
Since 1960, CCFC has been changing the world, one community at a time. We are a registered Canadian charity advancing the quality of life for children in developing countries in five key areas: health and nutrition; education; water, sanitation and hygiene; sustainable economic growth; and strengthening community organizations.
Each year we impact the lives of more than half a million children, youth, and families in six countries - Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Nicaragua and Paraguay.
We are a proud member of ChildFund Alliance, a global family of 11 child-centred development organizations working in 63 countries with one shared goal: to create lasting change for millions of children. Each year, ChildFund Alliance spends more than half a billion U.S. dollars achieving its mission. While we are a member of the ChildFund Alliance, we are a fully independent organization, with our own Board of Directors and programs.
CCFC works to create a future of hope for children, families and communities by helping them develop the skills and resources to overcome poverty and pursue justice. For more than 50 years, we have followed the example of Christ by serving the poor regardless of their faith, cultural, and ethnic background.

From One Man's Vision to a Global Partnership
Our roots date back to the late 1930s, when American Presbyterian missionary, Dr. J. Calvitt Clarke, along with Dr. Verent Mills, began working with Chinese war orphans. Moved by their suffering, Dr. Clarke created the China's Children Fund (CCF) in 1938. Less than a decade later, Mills joined as regional director in Shanghai. Born in Birmingham, England, and raised in Winnipeg, Canada, Mills had been a missionary in South China since the early 1930s.
In the 1950s, the organization expanded its work from Asia into the Middle East in the aftermath of the Second World War and renamed itself Christian Children's Fund. By the 1960s, CCF had a global reach, and growing Canadian support led to the creation of Christian Children's Fund of Canada.
Our History in Paraguay
We have been working with communities in Paraguay since 1995. We work in partnership with local organizations to help improve life for children, their families and their communities in three key areas: education; health and nutrition; and strengthening community organizations.
We are among Canada's most trusted and effective international development organizations. We have been helping children since 1960. Our work is made possible by the generous support of tens of thousands of donors. Trust and accountability are deeply important to us. Our programs to ensure all contributions are used wisely.
